I'm going to bed now dreaming questions and FAR's....
waking up the same way...

A lot of time prepping right now...

Talked with my CFI last night. He said he expects a checkride in my future in the next week or so.

Not sure I'm quite ready yet for the oral exam, but I'll keep working on it.

He told me today how she'll start it.

Questions on:
Pilot Currency
Airplane inspections
Pilot and Airplane documentation
from there she'll branch out.
expect 2 to 3 hours.

He also gave me the cross country she'll ask me to plan:
Mid-way Regional(JWY) to Tyler Pounds(TYR) to Greenville Major(GVT)then back to Mid-way
first leg, VFR Checkpoint/Pilotage, second leg NAV by your preferred means (VOR), last leg, night useable checkpoints (freeway for most of it)

If I do well on the first leg on pilotage, then we'll probably only hit two or three checkpoints before she'll divert. Then once she's happy with that I'll put on the hood and procced with the test. Most likely she'll do the lost procedure after all the other airwork is done. That shouldn't be too bad, I'll be close to the Cedar Creek VOR and can grab another VOR in the area to locate myself.

If I can get a handle on soft/short field landings I should be good to go. I think we'll go practice those at Mid-way this weekend while I brush up the rest of the airwork. After all, that'll be the airport she wants to see them performed at.

I can do this....

really... I can.....

Do you have a copy of ASA's Private Pilot Oral Exam Guide? It has a bunch of useful questions for you to review. Good luck!

I've got a copy of it, as well as Dauntles's Ride Ready that I've been using. It's coming together now I think.

I suffer from test anxiety. This is a big one for me, so I'm really working hard to keep it small and manageable so I don't just freeze up in the oral. Once I get to the flying I should be okay. Nervous, but okay.

The DE I'm using is known for being fair and really works hard to put us at ease for the test. That's all anyone can ask for, you know.

Going up 3 times this 3 day weekend to prep for the checkride. Likely be scheduling the DE sometime after that....

I don't know your instructor or your DE, but generally speaking everyone I know is surprised by how easy the oral part is. The ground portion and stage checks during training are usually a lot more rigorous than the actual checkride.

Thanks, I appreciate hearing that.

I've heard from another of Mischa's other students who used this DE that our CFI preps us far above the requirements. That if I fly like I do for him, then the checkride is a walk in the park. :) And that the DE really is out to just make sure we will be a safe pilot.

getting closer! :)

I had no idea what to expect on my checkride, really, and I remember that I was actually annoyed when my DE had me divert after my second checkpoint. All that work to plan the X-C and I only made it 12 miles! :>

Just have fun and fly right. From what I've read here, you certainly sound prepared enough.
