Back at work after a very much enjoyed and somewhat lazy weekend.
Did yardwork on Saturday then wandered to Half Price books with Ceal.
We were mostly good, I ended up with a couple of interesting books to me. One is a victorian lady's diary that's been published(The Diary of a Victorian Lady Scenes from her Daily Life 1864-1865 ~ Adelaide Pountney). It covers 2 years and contains sketches she did on many of the days. I think it's very neat. I will admit though, what got me first about it was when I picked up the book and opened the cover and found the lush, embossed end papers. I'm such a weakling when it comes to books...
The other book I picked up was a copy of Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf. We had just finished watching The Hours on DVD a night or two before and I wanted to read the book it was originally based on.
I love Half Price books. The two books ran me just at $10. (one of my cheaper day's at the store)
Sunday I spent most of the day being a bum. Worked on an old grumpy laptop a bit. Resurrected it to fairly functional order and then used it to work wireless in the living room on a website I'm slowly building. Someday it'll be ready for the world.. Maybe....
I also finished up the Dan Brown book "Angels and Demons." It was okay. His writing style is a little odd for me. He writes very much in a quick cut-scene action style. His books have lots of VERY short chapters. He has no qualms about tossing in a 1 page chapter to let you know what is going on with someone else at that time. In some ways it works well, in others it begins to get tiring. I guess the next book up in the reading rotation is his latest, "The da Vinci Code"
In other news, the summer term starts next week. A-kon also is weekend after next. Lots of stuff to get done this week, work and otherwise so I suppose I should be off.
