I was reading an article on CNN about the new Kindle coming out and ran across a quote..
But Van Baker, an analyst at Gartner, sees e-readers as a niche market. "It's a wonderful product for mobile professionals, but to be a consumer success it would have to appeal to Joe Six-Pack consumer."
I'm sick of Joe Six-Pack. I don't want to be believe that the average consumer is Joe Six-Pack. I'd like to have some hope that people are better than that. Who really wants to identify with that?

I'll admit it, even though I make my living in the technology world, I'm a bit of a luddite. I like books. I like holding books in my hands. I like turning the pages. I like the smell of books. However the new e-readers are pretty nifty. I would love to be able to stuff my textbooks on one and reduce the weight in my bag. Books that are quickly out of date such as the tech books I use in my job, an e-reader would be great for. Joe Six-Pack be damned! Bring on the e-readers!

Really, I'm sick of Joe Six-Pack. Can't we get rid of that concept? Surely we are better than that.
