groundschool
Jan. 17th, 2009 12:02 pmThe class is a go. I met with the guy leading the troop, things looked, felt good about it. Met the two teens that want to take the class, one took my groundschool last spring, the other is a year older. They seem to be serious and want to actually take the private written when they are done. I've decided to use the jeppesen guided flight discovery textbook for the private, and have a good set of slides to go with it. I told the boys they need to provide their own textbook, new they are only about $60 now, down from $90 last year. That way they'll have material to refer back to when prepping for the written. I've some extra e6b and plotters from last years class and will pick up a pair of local sectionals for them.
I think it'll come together well for everyone. We start next week, two nights a week until we are done. Considering trying to put together a continuing ed class to see if I can generate any interest. I'll look into it more after I've got at least a couple of weeks under my belt in the new class.
