It's fathers day today and I decided to take Dad flying and breakfast. Up early for a sunday I had the plane rolled out of the hanger by 7:15 and getting ready to head out. A bit hazy today under the high pressure cap over DFW but the thermals weren't kicking up yet. A very pretty morning on the flight out.

I flew from Grand Prairie up to Greenville Majors to pick up Dad and we made our way to Sulpher Springs only to find out the restaurant was closed for the day. Landing over the lake at Sulpher Springs is always a kick and Dad really liked the full flap helicopter landing I put in there.

Heading back to Majors I let Dad fly the plane a bit. He had told me the last time we flew together that he almost started flight training back before he married my mom. He over-controlled everything, of course, but I showed him how all you need on the yoke is two fingers. He took them again and did a little better, turning left and right, chasing up and down as he pushed and pulled. Not too bad for a newbie though. As we approached Majors he turned things back over to me and another really nice landing was on tap for him.

We ran into town to grab a late breakfast before he dropped me back at the airport for my return leg home. He told me that he's available pretty much every weekend should I need a seat filled. :) I think he's having fun.

Heading back home I poked around looking at some airfields I want to come back to and land at one of these days. Passing over Jim's place I was tempted to drop into his grass field and taxi up to his hanger to see if he was home but it was starting to get warm where I was so I passed for another day.

Even as warm as it was getting, you couldn't have asked for a more perfect flight today.
