On saturday afternoon I was suppose to pull a solo flight in the cheetah. After getting back O44 I called for winds and discovered that I had a 10 knot cross wind component at GKY. My max is 6. No solo flight for me.
I got to fly after all )

Sunday morning comes along dark and cold. I'm at the airport at a COLD 6:50 in the pre-dawn morning getting the key to the plane from the lockbox. This morning I am flying with Leanne for a progress check/mock checkride. I preflight the airplane in the cold and things look good to go. I set up my stuff in the cockpit, double check to make sure the hood is in the back seat. The canopy is covered with a dewey fog so I grab a cloth from the back and proceed to clean it off. Mischa had just cleaned the windshield last night after we got back from our flight, so at least the bugs are gone.

I flew again on sunday, about 1 o'clock. A short solo to work on the short/soft field work. I'll keep this post short as there's not a lot to say about it. I did a textbook short field take off on my first one. Brakes held, power in full, start the roll, rotate out and straight into a VX climb, transitioning to a VY along the way. The Cheetah will really climb with only one aboard. The tower makes a mistake and clears me out of the pattern to the left and I question if we are left or right traffic this afternoon. He corrects himself and I'm cleared into right close traffic.
not a bad short solo )
