B17 - Lesson 50
Oct. 24th, 2006 04:03 pmI flew last saturday morning. The B17 (http://www.b17.org) was in town hopping rides for folks at GKY. While I was preflighting the Cheetah it came taxiing down the way. I paused a moment to watch it as it rolled by. The co-pilot saw me standing by the cheetah and flashed a thumbs up and waved with a smile. I had to wave back with a grin. It's a beauty of a plane. She got to the end of the taxiway and turned to take the runway, a little cherokee 140 made a hasty landing to get out of her way and it was on the runway and they pushed those throttles forward. It was pretty neat to stand, leaning against the side of my rental and watch a piece of history like that take off. Beautiful.
