and another day passes....
Apr. 2nd, 2004 12:59 amWell, the day is wraping up....
Work today has been especially crummy. Some days I wonder why I do network/pc support for folks that just don't know how to follow a chain of command.
I also wonder why it is that so many people just don't seem to care at work. There seems to be little desire to actually accomplish a job correctly. Case in point today, an office move, the guy's moved the furniture, the pc, and hooked everything back up. Even put in a nice job of cable control to tidy up all the cables out of the way... one problem. They never took the pc power supply cable with them. So this morning the user couldn't turn on her pc.
It was a minor thing for me to crawl under her desk and discover that her power cable was AWOL after the move and get her another one from my spares.. But why didn't it dawn on the guy's putting the pc in that it was missing? Why didn't they even power on the unit to make sure it would boot? It's part of the job after all... it's not the first time this kind of stuff has happened with them...
/sigh
people don't care.
In other news, tonight I'm up so late because I started slumping a fused bowl project I started a couple of weeks ago. If all goes well, by sometime tomorrow I should be able to remove the project from the kiln and see my new frit fused bowl with pattern bar inclusions. /grin
Only the 2nd one I've ever done, and only the 1st I've done by myself(not in a class at the gallery)
I also got a good deal on frax on eBay tonight.. stuff for the new annealer for the outdoor glassblowing studio. I've almost worked out how I'm going to do the insulation in the unit now. I need to order some mineral block insulation for backup insulation in the sides and top, and a couple of cases of K23 for the floor to provide a bit of a heatsink to equalize the temp in the annealer. Once all of that is in, it's time to finely figure out what to use for elements in it. :) (I'm thinking dryer elements, cheap, easy to get, and should hold up to annealing temps...)
We watched "The Keepers of the Kingdom" tonight.. it is a 25 minute documentry that was done by a guy here in DFW on Rennies and ... It was nice to see and remember a bit of Hawkwood, as well as enjoy the sites of Scarborough Faire and Texas Ren... weekend after this we'll be visiting a little faire in east texas called 4 Winds.... and then a couple of weeks later Scarborough will start...........
Well, it's time to finish this up, and reprogram the controller on the kiln for it's annealing schedule....
